Music in The Middle Ages in Europe

There were different types of music in The Middle Ages in Europe such as Secular and polyphony but the most popular music was the Medieval music. Different instruments, some of which are used today, were used to create this music. There were different genres or types of music. There were also many different artists, some of whom influenced music in Europe in important ways. While, music has made big changes today, history is never forgotten.

Instruments:

Music in Europe was created by instruments like the flute and recorder. Instruments that many people have never heard of like the lute, vielle, the portative organ were all used to create this fine music. The bowed Lyra was the first known instrument in the Byzantine Empire. It looks like a modern-day guitar in a way. Lots of instruments like the lute look like modern day guitars that were used to create this music. Without instruments like the ones mentioned there wouldn’t be such good music.

Genres:

There are many different types of music or genres and not everybody likes the same kinds which is why genres were created. There are different genres in the middle ages of music. Medieval music consisted of two genres , secular and liturgical/polyphony. Secular music was music that did not pertain to religion . Despite this, it stayed popular throughout this time. Polyphony is one type of musical texture, where a texture is, generally speaking, the way that melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic aspects of a musical composition are combined to shape the overall sound and quality of the work Those were the three most popular genres of music in the middle ages in Europe.

Artist:

All music is composed by people who create the music or musical artists. Stary Olsa was a popular artist who played medieval ruthenian music in a folk band. Hildegard of Bingen was a female artist who was one of the best-known composers of sacred monophony which is music consisting of a single vocal part. Dufay Collective was a music group that specialized in renaissance music. These are all famous composers of middle-aged music but there were many more.

Middle-aged music was very different than music that is listened to today. Without the artists who composed it and created the instruments , the music then and now wouldn’t have been the same. Middle aged music is still appreciated today and in my opinion, it will always be.

Nice work pulling this together to meet the deadline. Your writing shows progress made through effort. There are some minor problems with some parts (is it two genres or three?). I do think some sound clips could have made this more interesting.
