By: Quanajesha Cooke

Literature can affect all of society whether a tragedy happens or a book with two characters having a happily ever after, great literature never fails to impact a human's true emotions. It's important because it gives readers insight into different cultures in the world and its history. It can also open our minds to different conceptions such as Romance, Love, War, and Justice. Medieval literature is any work written in Latin or a language or dialect spoken by people in a particular country or region in c.476-15000 CE. Literary works originally were written in Latin but poets began writing in the common language of the people in the 7th century CE.

Caedmon (658-680)

Caedmon was the first English Christian poet. His story is known from Bede’s ecclesiastical history of the English people which tells how Caedmon, an illiterate herdsman, retired from the company. Caedmon brought his dreams to life by relating it to the farm bailiff which he worked and constructed. What all Caedmon wrote was composed poetry of biblical themes. All of Caedmon's poetry themes were heavily sacred and it’s resolution targets men to turn away from sin.

Saint Bede The Venerable (b.672-735)

Bede was an Anglo-Saxon theologian, historian, and chronologist that is best known today for his ecclesiastical “History Of The English People”a source that tells the history of the conversion to Christianity. Bede’s works falls into three different groups: grammatical and scientific, scriptural commentary, and historical and biographical. His earliest works mentioned treatises on spelling, hymns, figures of speech, verse, and epigrams. In 725, he finished an amplified version, “On The Reckoning Of Time”, with a longer chronicle. In 731-732 he finished his ecclesiastical and divided 5 books filled with events in Britain from raids by Julius Caesar to the arrival in Kent.

Aelfric (955-1025)

Aelfric was a Anglo-Saxon prose writer, considered the greatest of his time. He wrote both to instruct monks and spread learning monastic revival of the 10th century. He made a variety of writings which were preserved, translated, and disseminated the christian traditions. In 987, he produced texts describing Christianity's messages and history. In 992-1002 Aelfric revised and lengthened “Catholic Homilies” and produced other religious writings and translations, and written three Latin works.

Beowulf is the greatest monument of old English literature because it is a great poem composed of old English with 3,182 lines. Beowulf is considered one of the oldest surviving poems in the English language. Literature most definitely changed overtime and it will continue to. Literature went from writing down history that's been going on around them to writing down dreams and imaginations. Medieval literature era ended in the beginning of the Florence renaissance in the late 15th century.

You had a strong hook in your introduction talked about some interesting authors. I also liked the pictures and how your heading looked. The only thing it was missing is a conclusion.
